Teriyaki Style Jackfruit Recipe
A delicious, mouthwatering and filling vegan dish from Nikibakes.
Ingredients
| 1 can | jackfruit, drained |
For the teriyaki style glaze
| 1 tbsp | toasted sesame seed oil |
| 1/2 tsp | garlic powder |
| 3 tbsp | agave syrup |
| 1/2 tbsp | rice wine vinegar |
| 1 tbsp | sesame seeds |
| 3 tbsp | tamari |
To serve
| 200g | sushi rice, cooked to packet instructions |
| A small handful | kale, steamed |
| a few | red chillies, sliced |
| sesame seeds | |
| spring onions, sliced |
Method
- Place your jackfruit in a nonstick pan over a medium high heat and toss occasionally to allow excess moisture to evaporate and also to brown on all sides.
- Add all the ingredients for your teriyaki style glaze to the pan and cook the sauce to reduce down, this will take about 5 minutes or so.
- Taste for flavour and adjust accordingly, place the lid on the pan and cook down for a further 5-10 minutes.
- Serve on a bed of steamed sushi rice, kale and garnish with sesame seeds, sliced spring onions and sliced red chillies. Enjoy!
