Ingredients

red onion, chopped finely

portobello mushrooms, chopped into small pieces

1 tsp

Steenbergs Organic mixed dried herbs

1 can (400g)

white beans

1 tbsp

dark tahini

1 tbsp

organic soy sauce

clove garlic

3 pieces

of stale bread made into crumbs

juice of 1 lemon

oat or almond milk

Sesame seeds

Steenbergs Organic perfect salt

Puff pastry

Although mixed herbs and perfect salt are given in the recipe, many different herbs could be used. Additional Steenbergs dried rosemary or Steenbergs mace work brilliantly with mushrooms, or if a more spicey flavour is required, add a sprinkle of Steenbergs Urfa chilli flakes or some Steenbergs Organic harissa spice blend

Method

Fry onions until soft and add the herbs and mushrooms. Cook until soft
Put the beans, tahini, soy sauce and garlic in a food processor with the mushroom mixture and whizz until mixed to a puree. Add breadcrumbs and mix. Add perfect salt and other spices according to taste
roll out the pastry and cut into 6 squares - size depending on how big you wish your pasties to be
Put 3-4 tablesoons of mixture in the middle of the pastry square. Brush edges with milk and fold the pastry over,s ealing the edges
Scatter with sesame seeds
bake at 200oC for approx 25 minutes
