Malay Curry Powder is for the traditional curries in Malaysia which are heavily influenced by Tamil and the British themselves, who brought their passion for Indian curry to Malaysia. Malay Masala is Mamak food, which is the food of Malay Tamil Muslims, which is similar to classic Southern Indian cuisine with a local twist, coming from local ingredients (lemon grass) and some Chinese ones, such as the use of soy sauce and star anise. Steenbergs organic Malay Masala, we have reduced the level of coriander and removed the fenugreek , while increasing the level of cinnamon and adding anise notes with fennel seed.
This is probably our favourite Steenbergs curry mix at the moment. It is particularly good with fish or vegetables and makes a delicious curry with coconut milk and this mix - it's quite mild, add chilli for additional heat if required. One of Steenbergs range of organic curry blends.
