Rose shortbread

Ingredients

* alternatively use organic Fairtrade rose sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix the chopped organic rose petals with the organic Fairtrade caster sugar, then lightly cream with the butter. Sieve the organic flour and mix with the creamed butter/sugar mix to get a soft dough. Chill in fridge for 1 hour.
  2. Pre-heat oven to 180°C. Roll out the chilled dough until its about 5mm thick and then cut into shapes - get the kids to help here. Place on a baking sheet or tray and sprinkle with a little Fairtrade caster sugar. Bake for 15 minutes or more, until light golden in colour. Eat when cool or keep in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  3. Alternative: try it with Steenbergs organic lavender instead of the rose petals.
