Privacy statement

The web sites, www.steenbergs.co.uk, www.steenbergs-tea.com and www.steenbergsorganic.net, are owned and operated by Steenbergs Limited ("Steenbergs Organic").

At Steenbergs Organic, we are very aware that many consumers are concerned about their personal privacy. Steenbergs Organic strongly believes in protecting the confidentiality and security of information we collect about individuals. This Privacy Statement is provided to explain to you what personal information may be collected at our sites and how we may use it. These practices may be updated and modified from time to time, so we would encourage you to check this Statement regularly.

Steenbergs Organic does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals except when such individuals specifically provide such information on a voluntary basis. For example, such personally identifiable information may be gathered from the enquiry section, the online shop, the newletter or emails via the web-sites. Personally identifiable information on individual users will never be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties and is only for the use of Steenbergs Organic and its affiliates.

We will never share personally identifiable information. There are a number of exceptions to this, which are (i) to help us process questions you may have about a purchase and its delivery or other enquiry you may have; (ii) to confirm or correct what we know about you; (iii) to help us or law enforcement agencies to prevent fraud, money laundering, terrorism and other crimes; (iv) to allow verification of what we know about you; (v) data processing requirements. Data processing requirements may result in our sharing aggregated information about people who use our site (for example, number of males and females or businesses) to business partners and other third parties. Steenbergs Organic may, therefore, perform statistical analyses of user behaviour and characteristics in order to measure interest in the use of the various areas of the site and to inform business partners of such information. Steenbergs Organic will provide only aggregated data from these analyses to third parties.

Also, users should be aware that Steenbergs Organic has links to third parties that offer subscription and/or registration-based services. For example, our online payments are processed by WorldPay, which processes your card details. Steenbergs Organic is not responsible for any actions or policies of such third parties and users should check the applicable privacy policy of such party when providing personally identifiable information.

Users should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected through the standard operation of Steenbergs Organic's Internet servers or through the use of "cookies". Like many companies, Steenbergs Organic may use "cookies" technology to enhance your experience. 'Cookies' are small text files which a web site can use to recognise repeat users, facilitate the user's ongoing access to and use of the site, track usage, follow site behaviour and compile aggregate data that will allow web site improvements. Cookies are not programs that come onto a user's system and damage files. Generally, cookies work by assigning a unique number to the user that has no meaning outside the assigning site. Users should be aware that Steenbergs Organic cannot control the use of cookies or the resulting information by advertisers or third parties hosting data for Steenbergs Organic. If a user does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the user to deny or accept the cookie feature; however, users should note that cookies may be necessary to provide the user with certain features (e.g. customised delivery of information) available on the Steenbergs Organic web site.

Upon request, Steenbergs Organic will allow any user to "opt out" of further promotional contacts at any time. Additionally upon request, Steenbergs Organic will use reasonable efforts to allow users to update/correct personal information previously submitted which the user states is erroneous to the extent such activities will not compromise privacy or security interests. Also, upon a user's request, Steenbergs Organic will use commercially reasonable efforts functionally to delete the user and his or her personal information from its database; however, it may be impossible to delete a user's entry without some residual information because of backups and records of deletions.

The foregoing policies were effective originally posted on 5 April 2005 and updated on 10 October 2008. Steenbergs Organic reserves the right to change this policy at any time by notifying users of the existence of a new privacy statement. This statement and the policies outlined herein are not intended to and do not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party.
