Ingredients

 

Instructions

  1. Oil a heavy pan or old fashioned griddle.
  2. In abowl, sieve togther the organic flour, Steenbergs baking powder, Steenbergs organic allspice, Steenbergs organic Fairtrade nutmeg powder, fleur de sel and organic Fairtrade caster sugar.
  3. Using a mixer or blender, cut the organic butter in with flour mixture.  Add the beaten egg into the mixture.   Fold in the organic currants.
  4. Gather into a ball and roll out on a floured board until it is a bout ½cm thick and cut out into 10cm rounds with a cutter or glass.
  5. Heat the pan or griddle until it is very hot.  Cook the teacakes on 1 side until they are brown.  Turn and cook on the other side until brown.  Serve warm with clotted cream or butter and jam.
