Steenbergs Smoked Salt is a delicately flavoured sea salt from the UK. Smoked sea salt adds a different twist to drinks like Bloody Mary - or a Virgin Mary - and Axel Steenberg uses it as a rub on chicken to give it a certain panache before roasting in the oven.
Steenbergs smoked salt has a dull brown colour, with a salty mineral flavour and a definite hint of smoke. The crystals are hard and crunchy for mouth feel, giving a texture that is best used cooked into your food rather than used as a finishing salt, although sprinkled over tomatoes it will dissolve quickly and impart a smoky bonfire taste. Steenbergs smoked salt has a strong and direct flavour that creates a great depth to casseroles and stews.
