Sabzi ghormeh or qormeh sabzi is the classic Iranian (Persian) stew. Steenbergs Organic Sabzi Ghormeh is based on the traditional herb blend of chives , coriander leaves , fenugreek leaves and parsley .  To these, Steenbergs has added some organic spices, predominantly organic turmeric together with some organic paprika and organic black pepper .  In addition, there is that wonderful citrus tartness that comes lumi ( loomi or loumi ), which is dried lime peel that Axel Steenberg sources from Iran.

Marinade organic lamb with sabzi ghormeh herb mix for 30 minutes, then fry in oil until browned.  Add black-eye beans, cover with water and cook for 1 hour.  Add some cubed potatoes to the casserole and cook for another 30 minutes.

Steenbergs Sabzi Ghormeh is hand blended in small batches in Steenbergs Spice Factory in Ripon in North Yorkshire to our own secret recipe. For further information on stockists (including becoming one) or bulk Arabic spice seasonings, please call 01765 640088 or email enquiries@steenbergs.co.uk.
